Traffic Guard is a macOS utility for monitoring estimated personal hotspot data usage, identifying high-traffic apps, and warning users about traffic spikes.
Best-effort measurements
Traffic Guard uses information available from macOS system tools and local app state. Measurements are estimates and may not exactly match your mobile carrier's billing records. Your carrier remains the source of truth for plan usage, fees, and throttling.
User-controlled actions
Traffic Guard can show alerts and, when enabled by the user, request app termination for apps that exceed configured thresholds. Review these settings before enabling automatic actions, especially for apps that may contain unsaved work.
Limitations
Traffic Guard does not guarantee exact per-tab historical attribution, reliable per-app packet blocking on every macOS configuration, or uninterrupted monitoring while macOS restricts background activity.
